The project
Built on a wooded plot bordering the Arcachon Basin, this contemporary house leverages solar orientation to maximise passive gains in winter while remaining cool in summer.
The structure is entirely built in Landes pine, a local material with a controlled carbon footprint. The large south-west facing windows frame views across the treetops and orchestrate the movement of natural light throughout the day.
The living areas open at ground level onto a covered terrace that extends the living space outdoors. The upstairs bedrooms benefit from cross-ventilation, eliminating the need for mechanical air conditioning.
The project achieved BBC Effinergie certification and meets RE2020 requirements.
